Do you have an acting up teenager and wonder, being at the end of your rope, what on earth is there left to do?
You are not alone, there are thousands of other parents experiencing many of the same problems as you, and the chances are that some of them are your neighbors and friends.
You may not realize that many other parents feel as you do when a son or daughter cuts school or gets drunk or otherwise behaves foolishly. Sometimes even friends do not tend to confide in each other on how their kids are really doing and how they (the parents) really feel.
As a Calgary Family Counsellor and Psychologist working closely with couples and parents I have often referred my clients to the Parenting Support Association of Calgary. This organization is run by parents who themselves are/have struggled with acting out teens. You will find tremendous support, humor and practical ideas that others have tried and tested. The mission of the group is “Parents helping parents to navigate conflict with their teens and youth through professionally-guided peer group programs and services. PSA provides self-help support groups, parent education and resources.”
