Does Your Child Need A Psycho-educational Assessment?
It is often thought that only children who are struggling in school require psycho-educational assessments, however, what many people don’t know is that psycho-educational assessments can be used to identify a child’s strengths and weaknesses, allowing for enhanced and targeted learning. At some point, every child struggles in school or has behavioural issues, however, if it is continuously prolonged then it would be wise to seek out a psycho-educational assessment for the child. Children who display a progressively worse attitude towards school and display disruptive behaviour at school can also benefit from a psycho-educational assessment. In some children, learning disabilities are hidden until they reach academically challenging classes and previously learned coping strategies are no longer useful when applied to a more rigorous academic curriculum. In this case, many parents mistake a child’s learning disability for a lack of motivation or laziness when in fact it could be a deeper issue which can be revealed through a psycho-educational assessment. Many children can positively benefit from a psycho-educational assessment in order to create an individual personalized learning plan to better suit your child’s learning needs. Book an appointment with an educational psychologist if you believe your child could benefit from a psycho-educational assessment.
