Self Care As An Everyday Practice

Self Care As An Everyday Practice
Self-care is a vital daily practice encompassing physical, mental, and emotional well-being, promoting balance and preventing burnout in our busy lives.

Self-care can be described as a check-in with ourselves and taking care of oneself in ways your body and mind need. Self-care is something we do not always prioritize in our daily lives. Taking time for ourselves can seem impossible, especially with work, school, relationships, and children in the mix. Self-care is not just taking bubble baths, but is so much more when it comes to our health and wellbeing. It has been categorized into seven pillars of self-care which include:

These pillars allow us to see the broad nature that self-care encompasses and how important taking care of ourselves truly is. When we neglect to take care of ourselves some of the effects may include: chronic stress, exhaustion, insomnia, auto-immune illness and many more health problems. Especially within professions where one cares for others, such as health care workers or teachers, it is of utmost importance to practice self-care to avoid burnout.

July 24th is International Self Care Day, however, please practice self-care every day because your mental health and well-being should always be a priority 🙂

Managing stress and learning how to practice self-care are topics psychologists at Journey Counseling are experienced with and able to help you develop.
